Man, it is just one of those days. I want to scream and cry and stomp like a two-year old. *facepalm*
Ok, so I know I'll never get around to big reviews so, quicks movies recs.
1.) I Now Propose You Chuck and Larry
MUST SEE. I DIED. Laughed. And then DIED AGAIN. So funny.
2.) Stardust
Ok, the plotline is clearly written for children and possibly one of the worst fantasy plotlines ever...but it was still sweetly romantic and rather humorous. Plus, Di Nero's character makes it all worthwhile (he's Captain Shakespeare. Doesn't that tell you something?). Somehow, in the middle of the cheesiest kid's fairytale ever, they got away with some of the funniest homosexual subtext I've seen since last season of Supernatural.
3.) License To Wed
While I am slightly annoyed that it's the classic case of the woman wanting to get married, have four kids, and go along with every weird thing the reverend tells them to do (frankly, I'd have been Ben in this movie), it was still VERY funny. Robin Williams is great and the things he comes up with! Plus, I think anyone who ever took home ec and had to take one of those fake babies home for a night/week, will love it. Mandy Moore is adorable, and I'm sure fans of Chuck will like Ben.
4.) Playing By Heart
I have finally gotten to see this movie after years and years of wanting to but never finding it. It's touching, sweet, funny, thoughtful. Great acting, a bit predictable (for me) but unfolds nicely. It's kind of like Rent meet Love Actually. I highly recommend it.
Anyway, new SGA, yay.
So, already I love this ep because of the three boys in the chairs. Like, Elizabeth only ever had the one in her office. Interestingly, despite being a military commander, it's Carter's office that is more comfortable and less formal. Hmm. Plus, Sheppard looks like he's being eaten by it.
McKay is adorable. Also, I totally thought McKay=Scully here. It's all about the science!! Also, I simply don't see any commander oking this "mission", but it's TV, so suspension of disbelief and all that jazz, yes, moving on.
I want to know what Teyla is wearing. The top has the sheen of velour, but I can't see anyone wearing that kind of impractical fabric. Hmm.
I LOVE McKay in that leather jacket. Day-um. Also the convo between McKay and Shep is uber cute. As always.
Umm, Shep is on a "children" kick. Last week he calls Teyla and Keller kids, this week he says children...I mean, it's cute. But sudden. lol
Lenara's cute.
Oh, Woolsey. How you manage to complain about the very things you help set up. Ok, actually, I haven't minded Woolsey. Sometimes, the beaurucrat is needed. And really, he's pretty brave for all he says he isn't. My only problem with him is, he takes the lessons he learns to the extremes. He insisted Khalek be kept for study and saw how bad that went so immediately wanted to kill Daniel when he seemed he was a Prior. He sees how bad the Michael situation went and so immediately wants to destroy the Wraith. Problem is, he can't find the happy medium. He either doesn't think, or thinks too much.
Hmm, wraith wants to talk to Sheppard. Oooo...
The seer is ill. Of course. Because if he wasn't sick, Atlantis would always be able to see the future and we couldn't have that, could we?
I love the way Sheppard looks at McKay when the seer says "you have doubt in your heart!" LOL Very funny.
I like how they did the vision thing. The way it was filmed, etc.
"My old buddy?" Ahaha, Shep.
Oh, Woolsey. Interrupting. He makes me laugh.
Last week was villain talk, this week it's blackjack. These two boys love each other. ♥ lol
The cloaked puddlejumpers. very cool.
Keller shows her smarts when she asks Carter about study vs saving his life. I like that bit.
Aww, Todd. I really like this wraith. He makes me laugh.
Those Replicators are bastards. The really need to get around to building another weapon like Tekara.
50 and 75 thousand? LOL!! My town is that that size!
Hmmm, I've always preferred when the seer sees their own demise. Much more dramatic. Like Merlin.
Oh, the McShep angsty scene!! I love this bit. McKay actually worrying about the consequences of his actions, Shep blaming himself...actually, I still think what McKay did was for the best. While unfortunately, we don't know the number of wraith dead from the Reps, I have to imagine it's been a significant number if they were "getting their asses kicked". Which means, it's actually a gain to the people of Pegasus. But really. They need another Tekara.
Wait, McKay says he thought the nanovirus was done by the Reps? When did he say that? I always thought it was just the precursor to the Reps that the Ancients created.
Mmmm Sheppard sticking it to the man. Very sexy.
I love Amanda's bangs. Also, anyone else amused by the photo of Hammond she has on her shelf?
I really enjoy Shep and carter's commaderie. It's different from his and Elizabeth's and yet, still good. Actually, it almost seems easier. They haven't had any arguments yet. Question is, is that because Shep's listening to his CO no matter what? Or is it just that they work well together? Either way, I like the chemistry between the two characters.
"Well, it's not like we're dating." I think Sam just had a Jack flashback there. LOL
I kind of want Keller's hair.
Who wants to bet this vision is a scene from the end of the season? Also, pretty sure those were drones firing at Atlantis. Which means...Reps!! Perhaps we will finally kill them all at the end of the season? But will someone explain to me how the command center which houses the stargate has been destroyed at least one, and maybe again, and yet the stargate is never buried or damaged??
Wait, now Woolsey's on board with the vision thing? Seriously, guy. He's his own waffle house.
And yes, Carter confirms that it was the Reps.
Seriously, go Shep!! He's harder core than Jack was with Woolsey. Nice to see him get so worked up.
Chuck! Long time no see, man!
Shep vs Todd. Rock on.
Nice view of the seer and Teyla on the balcony. New shot of Atlantis.
Blah, blah, pregnancy, condition.
Oh, Woolsey. He's so pissy this ep.
Hahah, oh, Carter's good. Poor Woolsey having to meet a wraith. I like that the priors and Khalek don't scare him all that much, but the wraith do. Seriously. "Ladies first." Hee!!
Carter vs Todd. DAMN. She just socks it to him. She's like, I've taken down more Goa'uld than you have humans so take that, Todd!
Ah, but Woolsey understands the political aspect Todd is taking. See, this is why he's good.
Wraith jokes!!! 20x better than Jaffa jokes. OMG I would have laughed in his face. Oh, Todd. You're def my new fav wraith.
I like that Ronon's in the lab with McKay. and he wants a gun. Did he not hear "virus"?
Aww, McKay and Todd. Seriously, I love this wraith.
Sheppard looks really hot in this ep. So does McKay. Also? John is a big girl. He really has the hand on his hip and hip cocked going on in this ep.
Loving the seer's line about the future being "predetermined by the character of those who shape it." Well written. Probably one of the best non humorous lines in the whole series.
The galaxy is at a crossroads. Very Ori-ish. I don't know why, it just makes me think of the beginning of the 9th season.
Seriously, love the Carter-Shep talks! Shep is very smart in this ep. Well, until he asksa what's that. Then he's a bit more like Jack. lol Daniel would have gotten it. As would have Teal'c.
Sam realizing how big her responsibility is? That was fantastic.
See, pissy as Woolsey is being, he stays. He is rather brave.
Is it just me or does Lenara act much younger than she seems to be? Hmm.
Shep is scared shitless in that chair. Nice touch, Flan.
Did no one else think they would fire upon each other? Does no one remember Lost Boys? That was my first thought at the beginning of the scene.
I frakking LOVE this showdown between Carter and Woolsey. Shep doesn't know what to do, McKay is just looking on stunned...this is probably one of my favorite scenes of the season, if not my favorite.
And Teyla's vision comes true. Two more down. Does anyone know the count of wraith ships gone? I mean, we knew, what? There were 60 in the beginning or something.
Ok, it's a pattern on Teyla's shirt! That makes more sense.
"Well, this is awkward." LOL!
Ending Thoughts:
Some parts of this ep irritated me the first time through. it seemed choppy, too many things going on at once to actually focus on one thing.
Watching it again, I still partly think that, but it flows better on second viewing. I enjoyed the different plots. Sometimes, I feel like this show gets too simplistic. Being used to the many different plot and arcs that go through shows like X-Files, West Wing, 24, and BSG, SGA seems so easy. This was a nice change. I also like that nothing was really solved at the end of the ep. And that Todd is still there.
To end, I love the Carter/Shep relationship. John and Rodney are in lurve. And John and Todd are total frienemies.
Also. Looking for people's favorite Carter photos. It can be stock or episodic. Help a girl out?
